Definintions of Conveyancing, Conveyancer and Conveyance

Conveyancing
Conveyancing in its simplest form is the transfer of the legal title of property from one person to another, and is applicable to both leasehold and freehold property. A person will instruct conveyancing solicitors to act on their behalf whilst the other side instructs their own property solicitor to represent them. The transfer process can take from 4 weeks to 12 weeks. When there is a chain of properties involved it can take much longer as there are more parties involved and therefore the timing of such things take time.

Conveyancer and Conveyance Definitions
A conveyancer is the name of the person conducting the conveyancing process. A conveyancer can be a practicing property solicitor but can also be a licensed conveyance. They do not have to be a qualified solicitor, although most legal firms that carry out the conveyancing process will at least have a qualified lawyer supervising them. The term ‘conveyance’ is a widely used reference for conveyancing within the market. For example, someone may ask how that conveyance is progressing rather than saying how is the conveyancing case progressing, so the term conveyance can be used in lieu for conveyancing.

Why The Need For Conveyancing Solicitors?

Outline of the Conveyancing Process

Conveyancing may sound simple in theory, and can be done without conveyancing solicitors, however a typical property conveyance involves analysing the legal title, raising and contending with enquiries related to the transfer, and generating a legal report, all which usually takes two months! So why not contact us and let professional conveyancing solicitors take the burden of your conveyancing needs.
